Son of Light – Helping Hands for Children
Is an Institution which was founded in 2003 by three musicians, Santa Raina Shakya – Shree Krishna Shahi – Alberto Parmigiani
Since 2003, the three musicians have given Singing Bowls concerts in order to raise donations in support of a children´s project in Nepal. The goal is to have the children taken into sponsorship because most of them are orphans.
The children are housed in a school where they are provided with learning materials and clothing together with food, accommodation and health care. In the meantime, the number of children who are being supported has risen to 65 (in March 2005)
This was made possible, amongst other things, by the sales of the musician`s CD, “Bhougholic Awaz”, which was produced in 2004. 100% of the sales proceeds from the CD go directly to supporting the children. Other traditional products from Nepal and Tibet are also sold in support of the Son of Light operations.
The musicians have also realized other projects, for example, the acquisition of an ambulance that is now in operation in a region of the city of Kathmandu. They have also been able to finance a gas driven heating system, which is installed in one of the schools, enabling the children to take warm showers, together with a complete renewal of the dormitory.
The renovation of a kitchen in a “seniors” home has been completed and, as a result of winning a children’s´ music competition in “Traditional Music”, one child was able to obtain a whole year of music lessons.
This is just a small sample of all the past activities of “Son of Light”. If you would like to do something to give the children in Nepal a brighter future – take up the responsibility of sponsoring a child as a Godfather or Godmother and give that child a place that he or she can call “home”. Through direct contact with us you can be assured that any contribution or donation will go 100% to the benefit of the children.
